Welcome to The Curatorial Blonde, a platform where contemporary art, culture, and critical conversations converge. I’m Caira Moreira—The Curatorial Blonde—a Chicago-based contemporary art writer, researcher, and curator dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized artists and exploring narratives that challenge conventional art historical frameworks.

With a B.A. in Art History from The Ohio State University and an M.A. in Modern and Contemporary Art History from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, my research focuses on contemporary African-American art, race relations, and the evolving discourse of "Post-Blackness." My current studies examine young female artists from the African diaspora beyond the U.S., analyzing how their internal racial perspectives shape their work within their own communities.

My work appears in publications such as Hyperallergic, Cultbytes, NewCity Art, and FAD Magazine, and my professional experience spans renowned institutions, including Friedrich Petzel Gallery, 67 Gallery, Joseph Editions, Kim Heirston Art Advisory, The Wexner Center for the Arts, and EXPO Chicago.

One of my most passionate projects is The Curatorial Blonde podcast, where I engage in deep conversations with artists, curators, and scholars to challenge Eurocentric narratives and champion equity in the art world. Through these discussions, I aim to foster accessibility, disrupt systemic barriers, and highlight the transformative power of art.
